Prefabricated Houses On Any Terrain, The Future Of Sustainable Tourism

DistrictHive is a new tourism concept that can already be enjoyed in Gorafe (Granada), but also a unique model that other hotels, resorts or private investors can buy to expand their offer of accommodation in unique and beautiful spaces anywhere on the planet. It is a project that aspires to change the current concept we have of luxury accommodation for travelers who seek the experience of a total disconnection from the outside, through a deep immersion with the environment.

The DistrictHive podtel (capsule hotel), created by the Portugal-based company Districthive LDA and an international team of architects, interior designers and engineers, is the first 100% self-contained and autonomous module designed precisely for that purpose: the to be able to be offered as a completely finished luxury tourism product. It is a totally industrialized construction that is offered “turnkey”, it is transported to any point of the planet and, once installed, it is ready to use.

A revolutionary way of understanding the hotel and tourism business in a sustainable, ecological, responsible and multidisciplinary way has just been born, in which several international entrepreneurs and investors have already shown interest.

What does the podtel include and what does its installation entail?
All the technology and devices contained in this podtel come installed and ready to be used. The format used is that of a 45-foot container so that it can be easily moved in trucks.

The steel structure has been calculated to make it possible to transport it from one place to another and offers great strength to the whole. The podtel does not touch the ground on which it sits, does not have a foundation, nor does it require any type of channeling, pipes, or sanitation. The developed support system has 6 legs that, like a spacecraft landed on Mars, land on the ground.

The building is a small 35m2 module divided into several spaces: a bathroom, a kitchen-living-dining room, a bedroom (a double bed and a hidden double bed), multifunctional modular wardrobes and shelves, and a small and necessary utility room. facilities where all technical teams are concentrated. The podtel also has an open terrace for stargazing. In addition, all the furniture, storage spaces, walls and finishes have been made with the utmost detail and care so that the final result was designed, seeking an intentional image of luxury and warmth.

The construction has sought maximum efficiency at a thermal level since, with thin wall thicknesses and large glass surfaces, it has worked as a thermal envelope without thermal bridges, where solutions aimed at solving complex details to guarantee maximum comfort.

A tourism product that is committed to innovation
Automation and the use of new technologies are fundamental for the development of podtel. A mobile App controls all the devices and offers information on the remaining energy levels, solar production, temperature, water quality, water production. This also controls, among other things, the opening of doors, the interior smell, the lighting, the sound, the TV, the purchase of food and drink on demand, or the temperature.

The capsule is controlled by an Artificial Intelligence, called ‘Hivemind’. It has built its own system and motherboard that monitors all systems and power consumption. It is intuitive and will assist guests throughout their stay to ensure a high-tech, connected experience as they relax and enjoy the wonderful scenery in absolute privacy.
